Privacy policy
Your salary is your business. This policy explains, in plain English, exactly what information PayMint UK does and doesn't process.
1. Who we are
PayMint UK (“we”, “us”) operates the website at www.paymint.uk, which provides free UK salary, take-home pay and IR35 calculators. For the purposes of UK data protection law, PayMint UK is the controller of any personal data processed through this website. You can reach us at hello@paymint.uk.
2. How calculator inputs are processed
All calculations happen locally in your web browser using code that runs on your device. The figures you enter, including salary, bonus, pension contributions, student loan plan, tax code, day rate and expenses, are:
- not sent to our servers or to any third party
- not saved in cookies, local storage or any database
- cleared when you close or refresh the page
We cannot see, access or recover the figures you enter into our calculators.
3. Information we collect
We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect your name, email address or other contact details through the website. The limited information described below is processed automatically when you visit.
Hosting and server logs
Our website is hosted by Vercel Inc. Like all web hosts, Vercel processes technical information needed to deliver pages to your browser and to keep the service secure, such as your IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time of the request. This information is used for security, troubleshooting and operating the service, and is handled in line with Vercel's privacy policy.
Website analytics
We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand, in aggregate, how many people visit the site and which pages are most useful. It records anonymised information such as the page visited, the referring website, and general details about your browser, operating system, device type and country. It does not use cookies and does not track you across other websites. Visitors are counted using a short-lived identifier that is not stored on your device and resets daily, so we cannot identify you individually.
If you contact us
If you choose to email us, we will receive your email address and anything you include in your message. We use this only to respond to you and keep it only for as long as needed for that purpose.
4. Cookies
PayMint UK does not currently set any cookies, and we do not use local storage or similar technologies to store information on your device. Because of this, we do not show a cookie consent banner.
If we introduce cookies in the future, we will update this policy and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent before setting any non-essential cookies.
5. Advertising cookies
We do not currently display advertising on PayMint UK, and no advertising or tracking cookies are used.
We may introduce advertising in the future, for example through Google AdSense, to help keep our calculators free. If we do, this section will be updated before any advertising goes live to explain:
- which advertising partners we work with and the cookies they use
- whether ads are personalised or non-personalised
- how to give, refuse or withdraw consent through a cookie consent tool
- how to opt out of personalised advertising, including through Google's Ad Settings
Under the UK Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR), we will ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are placed on your device.
6. Lawful basis for processing
Where we process personal data, we rely on our legitimate interests under Article 6(1)(f) of the UK GDPR. These interests are operating, securing and improving the website, understanding overall usage, and responding to messages you send us. We do not sell your personal data or use it for profiling or automated decision-making.
7. Your rights under UK GDPR
Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:
- Access: ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you
- Rectification: ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
- Erasure: ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances
- Restriction: ask us to limit how we use your data
- Objection: object to processing based on our legitimate interests
- Portability: receive your data in a portable format, where applicable
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at hello@paymint.uk. We will respond within one month. Because we don't store calculator inputs or create user accounts, in most cases we will hold little or no personal data about you.
You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk. We would appreciate the chance to address your concerns first.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time, for example if we introduce advertising or new features. The “last updated” date at the top of this page shows when it was last changed.
9. Contact us
If you have any questions about this policy or how we handle your information, contact us at hello@paymint.uk.
